Director Mark Mylod brings us romantic comedy What’s Your Number? It is the first rom-com from the director, whose previous work includes Ali G Indahouse (2002) and The Big White (2005).
Ally (Anna Faris) has never had much luck with relationships. When her friend suggests that women who sleep with 20 or more men never find happiness, she’s determined to find Mr. Right. And who better to help than her womanising neighbour, Colin (Chris Evans).
The trailer shows that the film looks like a typical, light-hearted rom-com. Most of the comedy seems to derive from flashbacks with Ally’s ex-boyfriends and their awkward reunions; particularly the embarrassing gynaecologist moment that closes the trailer. Both Faris and Evans have proved their comedy chops in the past, and the cameos by funny men such as Martin Freeman and Andy Samberg look set to keep the jokes flowing. The trailer also hints that the film will have the typical rom-com ending; that Ally and Colin who don’t really get along at first will end up together. But hey, who knows? Maybe we’ll be surprised.
